Point of view in fiction is important and misunderstood. Not because it’s difficult, but because many writer’s tell you what characters are thinking. And that’s not good when you’re writing about characters that are NOT the Point Of View character.
So, Who Is The POV Character? The POV characters is the character who you’re writing about in that chapter or scene. This character is the one whose thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears are given to the reader. So, you’re asking what about other characters? When they have the POV you reveal their innermost thoughts. POV is important so that the reader doesn’t get confused as to just which character is being discussed. Pay attention to has the POV and don’t mix more than one character in a scene or chapter with the POV. Should you do that things get confusing. |
